A pair of boats fish on the Kentucky river near Buffalo Trace Distillery. I'm not 100 percent sure, but the boats appeared to be fishing near a dam.
I decided to follow up my favorite photo I have taken with a camera to my favorite taken with my smartphone. This photo was taken underneath the Kure Beach pier in June 2017. I've really been surprised at how great smartphone cameras have become.
Kure Beach pier (06/25/17)
It's been a while, but I'm back with one of my favorite photos I have ever captured. This one was taken with my DSLR at Kure Beach. It's a sunrise, but I've been told it looks more like a sunset. Either way, I think it's cool.

Rainy days (4/8/17)
A photo out of my car window during a drive along the Yadkin River in Rowan County, N.C. smartphones take great pictures fyi.
When covering a federal lawsuit about prayer, I stopped by a park in Richmond, Va with a great view of the city skyline. It was nearly dusk when I took the photo.

120,000 miles and still rolling (2/9/17)
I've owned the same car for almost eight years. This week, the odometer hit 120,000 miles. Sure, it's required some expensive repairs here and there, but it's still going strong.
Snow day (1/8/17)
it snowed 6 inches in Salisbury from Jan 6 to Jan 7. Much of it happened overnight. I woke up as more was coming down and took this picture. Smartphone picture.
Capitol Dome (1/03/17)
For three days in January 2017, I traveled to Washington, D.C. to write about the swearing in of two local congressmen. The exercise app on my phone said I walked more than five miles in one day, but it felt like a lot more. This photo is of the dome in the U.S. Capitol. It was taken with my smartphone.
Neon lights (12/30/16)
Taken outside of the Amtrak train station in Birmingham, Ala. during a trip home for Christmas. Smartphone picture.
Low light test (12/27/16)
Not a particularly impressive photo, except for the fact that it was taken with my phone in awful lighting conditions. The light post on this picture is really all there was.
I took this with my smartphone in manual mode while taking an Amtrak train home for Christmas.
